The Man Overboard Quintet at Quaglino's

WHEN: 10-05-2017

Take the soul of the man and sprinkle with a touch of Blues, add a touch of Gospel seasoned with R&B and serve with one of the tightest bands in town. This is the recipe that makes up ‘Reuben Richards & The Soul Train’ and is no less than what his many fans have come to know and expect when they go to see the Soul Man live.

Early influences included Sam Cooke, Ray Charles, Aretha Franklyn and later other artists made their mark including Stevie Wonder, Marvin Gaye, Nina Simone, Al Green, Steve Winwood and Van Morrison. Reuben absorbed what he heard on the radio and in the clubs, especially if it was released on Stax Atlantic or Motown.

The legendary disc jockey Emperor Rosco, who knew Otis well, said that Reuben’s covers of Otis’s songs such as, Hard To Handle and Try A Little Tenderness, were ”as good as it gets”.

”…imaginative arrangements, amazing frontman/vocalist and a band so tight, it pinches. ”Reuben Richards…,”what can I say? This guy has got it there’s no doubt about it, even the most cursory listen will convince”. ”Definitely a name to watch for.” Norman Darwin, Blues in Britain.

Live on the main stage from 9.00pm until 10.20pm
